This vintage pre-owned estate ring features a 1960’s look and feel in the form or a yellow gold beehive. The star of this honey ring is a brilliant round cut purple sapphire estimated at 2.48 carats.
The beehive inspired setting of this ring is reminiscent of designer pieces and may have been inspired by or given inspiration to a Webb or Pagani piece. The ring is clearly marked and tested at 18K gold. There are what appear to be additional markings that are worn away or incomplete. The setting of this ring is cast and appears to have been cast for this stone.
At the top of the beehive setting you’ll find the real honey of this ring; a beautiful violet purple sapphire. The mounting in this setting is bezel set and the size on this lovely stone is estimated only. The sapphire does not appear to have any significant or eye notable color shift quality under different lighting. The sapphire has been GIA trained gemologist reviewed. The quality of the stone is such that there is no clear indication that the stone is synthetic nor a natural earth mined stone and would need to be sent off to GIA for certification; in other words, he could not say with any certainty one way or the other as to whether the stone is natural or not. Some very minor facet wear and the stone does appear to have a small girdle chip at the point.
